Day 1 : Marrakech » Atlas Mountains » Ait Ben Haddou » Ouarzazte (200 km - 3h30)
- After breakfast at your riad or hotel in Marrakech, the 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes begins. The journey starts by traveling through the scenic Tizi-Ntichka pass in the Atlas Mountains, offering panoramic views. Visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and have lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Ouarzazate, where you can choose to visit the film studios. Spend the first night in a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 2 : Ouarzazate » valley of Dades » gorges of Todra » Merzouga Desert (360 km - 5h)
- After breakfast, the second day of the 5-day desert tour continues through the Atlas Mountains towards Skoura. Visit Kasbah Amridil, a well-preserved 17th-century kasbah that offers a glimpse into traditional Moroccan life with its hand-carved door locks, olive oil piston, and working baking ovens. The kasbah is divided into two parts, each with its own entrance. Continue the journey through the Valley of Roses, known for its picturesque landscapes and abundant palm trees. Reach the Dades Valley and explore the stunning Todra Gorges, marveling at the green valley and palm trees. Finally, head to the Merzouga Desert where you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Day 3 : Tour Around Merzouga
- After breakfast, the 5-day desert tour continues with a visit to the village of black people, originally slaves from Sudan, Mali, and Senegal. Explore their music and lifestyle. Cross the desert to meet nomadic families living in Berber tents and learn about their way of life. Enjoy a traditional Berber lunch in a local family home. Visit the ancient city of Rissani, known as the foundation of the Alawite dynasty, and explore its surrounding Ksars and bustling souk. Return to the village of Merzouga and in the afternoon, embark on a camel ride led by an experienced guide to explore the highest sand dunes in Morocco. Ride for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the desert camp, where you can enjoy the sunset, stargaze, and experience a traditional dinner accompanied by local drum music. Day 4 : Merzouga » Errachidia » Midalt » Azrou » Ifran » Fes (400 km - 8H)
- After witnessing the sunrise and having breakfast at the desert camp, it’s time to depart. Leave the camp and travel through Erfoud to Errachidia, where you can enjoy a panoramic view. Continue to the Ziz Valley and its beautiful forest, capturing memorable pictures along the way. Journey to Midelt, known for its apples, and have lunch en route. Pass through villages and small cities until you reach the Azrou forest, home to wild monkeys. Spend a brief time observing the monkeys before continuing to Ifran, the second cleanest city in Morocco and often referred to as the “second Switzerland.” Here, you can see the stone lion before heading to Fes. This marks the final day of the 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
Day 5 : Visit Fez with our local guide
- After a restful night and breakfast at the riad in the medina of Fez, embark on a guided tour of this captivating city. Accompanied by an official Spanish-speaking guide, explore the main monuments and iconic sites of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit landmarks such as the Karaouine Mosque and University (one of the oldest in the world), the madrasas of Bou Inania and Attarin, and the vibrant souks. Discover the authentic artisan neighborhoods, including the tanners’ quarter and the Nejjarine district. Fez, being one of the largest cities in North Africa, offers numerous attractions, and although some may not be covered during the morning tour, you can utilize the free afternoon to further explore the city. You can also enjoy the bustling shops and markets, known for their craftsmanship and unique products. With a busy day of exploration, return to the riad in the medina for a well-deserved night’s rest, marking the end of the 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
